Brighton Ski Team

Board

"Hollywood" is presently the longest serving board member for the Brighton Ski Team, who has one daughter racing for the team, and one daughter who has just retired. As chief of course, he is the one who assures that our race courses are fast, safe and in compliance with USSA regulations. During the day, he takes off his disguise and becomes a true superhero: one of the best pediatric nurses in the Intermountain West. He brings hope to hundreds of critically ill kids in Utah, while still looking stylish in his 70's era cat eye sunglasses. He's had two kids on the team, Samantha, who has since "retired", and Abby, who is having a blast on the team.
Jim Ruelle -

Jim, who has been a board member for four years, has a dream job for many, traveling the world designing golf courses for rich Middle Eastern oil barons and Chinese billionaires. But when he's not flying first class to Dubai, "Packhorse" is an extremely valuable member of the Brighton Board, coordinating our races and generally doing anything and everything needed to keep the team functioning. That includes hauling gates, fences, food, gear, kids, whatever that needs moved. And opening up his home for team functions, which has doubled his homeowner's insurance premiums. He has two kids on the team, Hunter, who is a peer coach this year, and Owen.
Ryan Davenport -

Ryan grew up ski racing in Alaska, where he was a successful junior racer, which has allowed him to travel to all sorts of exotic ski locations, such as…..Utah. Because of his racing background, and because he is the youngest board member (meaning he has the most cartilage left in his knees), he can out ski everyone else on the board. He is a ski equipment rep for brands such as Elan, Dalbello, SVST, and other gear. As such, he is our equipment guru, making sure our athletes are properly equipped and fast. He has one athlete on the team, Savannah.
Han Kim -

Han has been on the board for four years, responsible for the team's online presence as well as helping the coaches with whatever is needed during training and races. He grew up skiing and ski racing on ice in sub-zero temperatures in Eastern Massachusetts, and thinks his kids are spoiled by the 500+ inches of Utah powder. He is still distrustful of any new ski technology, and has just accepted shaped skis as legitimate. Don't even ask him about rockered skis. Han is a professor at Westminster College, which allows him the flexibility to ski 60+ days while still claiming he has a day job. He also moonlighted as a ski instructor for Brighton Resort. He has two kids on the team, Cameron and Ella.
Chris Blanchat -

Chris has been on the board for the last three years. He originally hails from Eastern Washington. During the day, he is the regional distributor for Boar's Head Meats, which keeps the team waist deep in premium salami and bacon. Chris is a people-person, and can sell bacon to a vegan. He therefore can smooth out some of the feathers ruffled by some of the board's less socially-adept members, which is a critical skill, considering some of our board members. He's really glad that there's a newer board member than him, so he has someone to boss around. Chris has two kids on the team, Lindsey and Peyton.
Chad Stapley -

Chad is our newest board member. The board realized that he was willing to do all the dirty jobs that the rest of the board didn't want to do, so they invited him to be a member. He may not realize it yet, but being the newest board member, he's responsible for carrying all of our skis, buying lunch, cleaning the A-frame, deodorizing our ski boots, and anything else the board wants him to do. By day, Chad is a successful small business owner in Davis County. He has one athlete on the team, Summer.
John Milano (ex officio) -

John has been with the team from the beginning, and has helped make the team what it is today. He is still an integral part of the team, sharing his experience with us as well as being our timekeeper during our races.
Garrett Wilson (ex officio) -

Garrett has been on the board for many years while his two kids went through the team (Andrew is now in college, and Laura is a peer coach). He is still involved with the team, helping as chief gatekeeper during races.
